Ravi joined the State Department in 2008 as a Foreign Service Officer. His tours of duty include Hyderabad, (India), Bucharest, (Romania); Dubai,(UAE), New Delhi, (India); Pretoria, (South Africa);  Karachi, (Pakistan); and Chennai, (India).

Prior to joining the Department, for over a decade he worked for water and wastewater utilities in the U.S., and as a teacher at colleges and universities in the U.S. and India.

He graduated with B.Tech. in civil engineering from IIT Madras, MS in Sanitary Engineering from Iowa State University, Ph.D. in environmental engineering from the University of Illinois – Urbana, and MBA from Colorado State University. 

He has been involved in the world of water for over 40 years, either as a student, teacher, researcher, or practitioner.
