OSAC Code of Conduct
The Overseas Security Advisory Council (OSAC) is a Federal Advisory Committee and operates under the auspices of the United States Department of State. Since its inception, OSAC has been a conduit for the exchange of information between the public and private sectors on how to mitigate security issues abroad. Each year, OSAC hosts a multitude of activities, to include in-person advisory committee meetings and other exchanges of information among stakeholders. For purposes of this Code of Conduct, “activities” refers to events sponsored by OSAC that are not meetings for purposes of the Federal Advisory Committee Act.
Participation in OSAC activities may be revoked at OSAC’s discretion. Each participating OSAC organizational member may offer an individual(s) to represent it at OSAC activities, provided any and all representatives comply with and adhere to the OSAC Code of Conduct.
The U.S. Department of State is committed to ensuring all OSAC participants are treated with dignity and respect and will not tolerate any form of discrimination, sexual harassment, or other unprofessional conduct. Trust, respect, professionalism, and ethical conduct are keys to our success.
OSAC is committed to providing a positive experience for all participants engaged in OSAC activities, where they feel safe and welcome regardless of: Race; Color; Sex (including pregnancy, sexual orientation, and gender identity); National Origin; Religion; Disability; Age; or other protected status.
PURPOSE
OSAC has established this Code of Conduct (the “Code”) to serve as a guideline for the professional conduct of anyone attending or participating in an official OSAC event, activity, or communications platform, as well as to inform members of the consequences of unacceptable behavior. It is the expectation of the Department of State and the OSAC Council that every participant will respect and abide by this Code of Conduct. We all have a responsibility to ensure our events and individual actions are professional, inclusive, and respectful. Failure to abide by this Code is subject to corrective action, as set forth below.
